The European project 'CDWaste-ManageVET' seeks to address and update skills in the field of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW) management, through Vocational and Educational Training (VET).
To this end, seven entities from Spain, France, Italy, Greece, Portugal and Romania will collaborate in the development of an online training, open to the public, in the field of CDW management. The training programme will be adjusted to the needs of the labour market and to the requirements of the European Qualification Framework (EQF).
Construction is considered the main consumer of materials and waste generation. In order to address this situation, the Circular Economy European Strategy considers this sector as an driver for the sustainable transition. Currently, this industry generates 36.4% of the total production of waste in the European Union; despite this, it is estimated that more than 90% of inert materials and waste (including concrete, bricks, gypsum, wood, glass, metals, plastic, solvents, asbestos and excavated soil), can be recycled.
